![]() Happy Aloha Friday! As promised, I’ve got some great book news! Read on below… Writer Update! I recently finished the rough draft for The Limit of Infinity Book Four! Yes, you read that right, Renaissance, Escapade, and Overcomer finally have a book to follow them! SPOILER ALERT: I had but one mission in writing Book Four and that was to get our heroes off of Strehim. So, you can bet that they make some strides toward that! đ Short Story! ***WARNING!!!*** This week’s short story is a spoiler! It’s one giant spoiler. If you don’t like those, sorry! This week I decided I’d drop a bit from Book Four of The Limit of Infinity that I thought was cute. I’m sure many of you who’ve read Renaissance and the rest of The Limit of Infinity saw this one coming, but it’s still a bit of a surprise to some of my Beta readers (who also loved this scene). Without further ado, here’s the spoiler! WAYWARD (Excerpt) THE LIMIT OF INFINITY BOOK FOUR  I’m dropping y’all in at the end of chapter ten which is from Trix’s point of view. It continues into chapter eleven which is from Clive’s âThen we might just stand a chance.â Clive smiles as he looks at Trix. After a few moments, he finally speaks up, âTrix?â âYes?â Trix asks, her heart skipping a beat. She can tell that Clive is up to something, but she doesnât know what, which is making her nervous. She wasnât even this nervous when she was diffusing bombs. Something in the air tells her everything that she needed to know, Clive was up to something. Her chest feels like itâs being constricted, as is her throat, momentarily leaving her speechless.  Chapter Eleven Jericho, Strehim  Clive canât believe what he is about to do. Iâve already done this once, so this time canât be too different, Clive thinks as he stares into Trixâs enthralling eyes. He bites his lip as his train of thought progresses at a snailâs pace, What am I thinking, this is nothing like last time! Clive is idly toying with a small greasy cog that he had pulled from the wrecked pirate cutter before he fell asleep. He burned nearly an hour scouring the wrecked engine before he finally found an intact piece that looked like it would fit Trixâs finger. He feels wildly unprepared for the question he is about to ask, especially with his petty offering. Last time, he had a ring which was worth a fortune. The comparison just made this old cog all the more pathetic. Factor in how he had momentarily lost the ring just a little bit ago and he canât help but feel more nervous. He could run around doing odd missions for the Resistance until the day he died, somehow, that felt like nothing compared to what he was about to do. Biting his lip once more as he plays with the cog, he wonders, What if losing this thing was a sign? What if I shouldnât ask? âŠI wish T was here, Clive thinks as a tinge of pain stabs into his heart. Everything going on right now made him fondly reminisce about his first proposal, if only for a moment. T had stood by him the entire time, making sure that Clive followed through on what his heart was telling him to do. Things had been so different back then. Everything seemed so simpleâso straightforward. Thanks to T, he actually went all out and proposed to Stephanie, his late fiancĂ©e. Now they were both gone. âClive, I can tell somethingâs wrong, what is it?â Trixâs voice draws him back to reality. Cliveâs heart momentarily feels like it stops altogether. The feeling in his chest makes him think of what it must feel like for the gun when it is jammed because you stuck too large of a bullet into it. Clive takes a shaky breath to steady himself and get his heart pumping again as he is faced once again with what he is about to do. His fingers squeeze the small part and he draws some courage from the fact that it is still in his pocket. Clive slowly pulls the cog out into the open; his knuckles are white from how tightly he had been clenching the piece of metal. He takes a slow breath before he drops to a knee in front of Trix. Taking one of her hands in his free hand, he continues staring into her eyes, those perfect pools of blue and green that he had found so mystifying since the moment that they first met. The green at the center of the oceans of blue made Clive think of an island. A safe harbor that he could weather a storm in. Her eyes made him think of the security of home. He feels like he had been staring ever since the moment he first saw her. He holds up the worn cog and without thinking, he hears himself blurt out, âTrix, can youâI mean, will you, marry me? Iâwell Iââ âYes!â Trix exclaims, somehow not put off by his clunky proposal or shoddy ring. She yanks Clive back up to his feet and her lips meet his as they exchange a kiss that momentarily reminds Clive of Steph. His world slows down much in the same way as it does when he exhales and holds his breath as he lines up his sights to take a shot. However, unlike when he prepared to shoot someone, he didnât want this to end and he wasnât afraid of what might happen next.  âI got a ring,â Clive babbles after awkwardly tearing himself away from Trix, âItâs not much, butââ âI love it,â Trix interrupts Clive yet again. Smiling broadly, she holds out her hand for him to put on the ring. âI can get another one, once things calm down aââ Clive starts once more, trying his best to make amends. He canât stop his mouth from moving before he can think, but heâs happy that Trix keeps stopping him from sounding like too much of an idiot. âClive,â Trix cuts him off, âI love it.â âButââ Clive starts to protest. âJust put it on my finger!â Trix orders as she lets out a joyous laugh that puts Cliveâs strained nerves to ease. Something about Trixâs laugh, presence, and care just had such a soothing effect on Clive. Everything about Trix was like a fountain of cool water in the midst of the harshest of deserts. âTrix Callaghan, I pledge my life, and my love to you,â Clive proclaims as he gently slides the greasy ring onto Trixâs finger. Once the ring is in place, Clive takes both of Trixâs hands in his own and he canât help but smile for all he was worth. âI love it,â Trix breathes as she looks down at the ring. Clive looks down as well and he admires how well Trixâs hands fit in his own. His eyes rove between the dark metal on her left ring finger and the old wooden one on her right. Oddly enough, the two rings look good together. Clive and Trix both look up, and they lean in for another kiss. âIncoming!â someone cries out, âTake cover!â Trix drops to the ground and Clive wraps himself around her protectively. A moment later, a ship screams overhead, followed by a torrent of gunshots as seemingly every security team opened fire on the small craft. Clive looks up once the ship had passed over them. Seeing the vessel, he lets out a mournful groan. Sure enough, emblazed on the side of the sleek scout ship, the unmistakable crimson red insignia of the Coalition stands out proudly against the scoutâs muted grey hull. âItâs a scout!â Clive calls out over the thundering of countless gunshots as the Resistance soldiers open fire. Clive looks to Trix and upon seeing that she is alright, he continues into his comms, âKnock that scout out before it can relay any intel!â  ***END OF SPOILER!*** Alright, I know y’all were waiting for Chapter Eighteen of Accolade, but you’ll have to sit tight!
